Important Jet Noise Meeting in Peninsula

Other communities around the Bay Area are also affected by jet noise and are gathering in the hopes to reverse or drastically change the jet noise current situation.

An important meeting was held tonight in Mountain View, California and it made the Bay Area News.  It seemed like a great turnout…

For some context, the following paragraph was related to the meeting:

FAA’s March 2015 NextGen implementation for SFO arrivals has created huge negative impacts upon people from Santa Cruz to Palo Alto. The final meeting of the Select Committee is tonight, in Mountain View. The meeting offers a public forum to speak up about your concerns and, hopefully, get FAA off its butt to repair the damages NextGen has inflicted. Of course, impacted residents are encouraged to attend tonight.

Most of their concerns are ARRIVALS related.

We wish the Peninsula and South Bay folks lots of success with negotiating some much needed relief from the jet noise down there.

FAA claimed NextGen would not increase noise

Back in 2014 before the NextGen changes brought all this jet noise upon us, the FAA claimed there would be no noise increase from NextGen.  In this 2014 NBC news story  an FAA spokesman states “after doing the noise modeling the conclusion was that there would be no reportable or significant increase in noise anywhere in the project area”

S.C.R.E.A.A.M. submits a letter to the SFO Roundtable

Here is the letter the we recently submitted to both the SFO Roundtable Members (via our SFO Roundtable representative David Takashima) and to Jackie Speier’s office this past week at the SFO Roundtable Meeting.  We also spoke at the meeting introducing S.C.R.E.A.A.M. as a group, explaining the intention of this letter, and asking that our specific requests in it be considered when the SFO Roundtable submits their own more comprehensive letter to the FAA in the coming weeks.

Radio Spot About Jet Noise

It’s always great to see the jet noise issue getting more exposure.  KALW recently ran an 11 minute radio story that gives a good background problem.  Although the story focuses on the Peninsula, almost all of it applies to the noise problems we have in San Francisco.
